Orthodox Christmas Dinner Reception in Taipei
On January 12, a Christmas dinner party took place at the banquet hall of Grand Hyatt Hotel in Taipei, the event has been organized by the Russian Orthodox Church in Taipei, with the support of the Moscow-Taipei Economic and Cultural Coordination Commission.
After the welcoming remarks, there was a vivid Christmas drama performance, prepared by the parishioners of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross parish in Taipei, it helped the guests lively empathize with the events related to the coming of our Savior Jesus Christ to this world, even though these events took place more than 2000 years ago, they never lose their eternal significance for every person. After the story of Fr. Kirill about spiritual significance of the Lord’s Nativity, the musical evening program has begun, prepared by the violin quartet “7 stars” as well as the pupils of the Russian Saturday school. Bright festive Christmas melodies, Russian and Ukrainian carols and poems allowed guests to spend this evening in an atmosphere of joy and peace, to become partakers of the blessings that our Lord and Savior brought to this world.
The Christmas Orthodox dinner celebration has already became a tradition in Taipei. It unites both the Russian-speaking community of Taiwan and also gathers many Taiwanese guests, who relate to the Russian culture and Orthodox traditions with sympathy. The event was sponsored by the Taiwanese companies ATC and Tyrus. We express our deep gratitude to the Representative Office of the MTC in Taipei, the Russian Club of Taiwan, the Russian Saturday school, the Quartet “7 Stars”, to ATC and Tyrus, and certainly to all the Orthodox parishioners, who’ve contributed to this event! May God bless all who’ve put effort to contribute to the celebration of the Lord’s coming to this world! “Christ was born! Rejoice!” (an ancient Latin Christmas greeting)
